A few resources for public domain and otherwise freely available texts on the internet.
Science
- Charles Darwin (1809-1882) - www.infidels.org
The collection contains The Origin of Species, The Descent of Man and The Voyage of the Beagle.
Philosophy
- David Hume (1711-1776) - www.davidhume.org
A great website where you will find most of David Hume’s texts in easily readable format. Hume is one of the better philosophers in my opinion. - Thomas Hobbes (1588-1679) – www.gutenberg.org
His book Leviathan downloadable and readable in several formats.
Bibles and other religious texts
- Multiple Translation of the Bible – www.biblegateway.com
A good site for looking up Bible texts, has many translations in several languages. - Skeptic’s Annotated Bible – www.skepticsannotatedbible.com
An even better Bible resource as here you will find all the contradictions and other issues in the text highlighted and cross referenced. - Reason Project – www.reasonproject.org
Based on the Skeptic’s Annotated Bible, but in a new updatable wiki format. Also contains the Book of Mormon and the Qur’an. - Lolcatbible – www.lolcatbible.com
Ok, well, this one is just for fun
It is a funny translation of the Bible into lolcat language. Quite entertaining really. I sometimes quote it when discussing with fundamentalists.
